CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Poetry and Art

Chuka Susan Chesney (pasadenasocietyofartists.org). See more at Aarnun Gallery.

Spectrum is looking for exciting literary and graphic art. The twenty-second issue's theme is "Leap through!" What that means is subject to the artist's interpretation. There is no cost to submit. Those accepted will receive a contributor's copy. Additional copies available for $5.00, limited quantities (unless ordered in advance), subject to stock on hand.

SPECTRUM 22: LEAP THROUGH!
Send up to three poems on the subject of moving forward totaling up to 150 lines in length including stanza breaks.

Include a 150 word (or less) bio in the body of an email message or attached in a Word file.

Submit to DonKingfisherCampbell@gmail.com. Due date: February 2, 2020.

ART: Black and white artwork is also desired. Please send in .jpg form.

Poets and artists published in Spectrum 22 will be invited to pick up their contributor's copy and read or present their art on Saturday, February 29, 2020 between 3:00-5:00 pm at the Pasadena Central Library at "Studio On 4," on the 4th floor of the main Pasadena Library on 285 E. Walnut Street in Pasadena, California.

If that subject does not inspire or speak to you, perhaps life and death do:

SPECTRUM 23: TO BE OR NOT...
The same parameters exist. Send up to three poems on the subject of life and death, with the same line limits, including stanza breaks, and a bio.

Submit in the same way. Due date: May 3, 2019.

ART: Related black and white artwork is also desired.

If included in Spectrum 23, you will be invited to pick up a contributor's copy and read or present your art on Saturday, June 6, 2020 between 3:00-5:00 pm at "Studio On 4," 4th floor of the main Pasadena Library, 285 E. Walnut St. in Pasadena.

WHERE AND HOW CAN I HONE MY SUBMISSIONS?
Don Kingfisher Campbell, MFA (Antioch) hosts Saturday Afternoon Poetry at the Catalina Branch of the Pasadena Library EVERY Saturday. Address: 999 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena, a few blocks east of Lake Ave. These sessions are FREE and rotate between writing workshops, deep critique group workshops (to make changes and corrections in response to hearing constructive criticism, praise, and exploration of your work -- so bring at least 10 copies of your work-in-progress to share with the group), print and internet publishing workshops, and open mic readings to perform in front of a live audience. DETAILS: saturdayafternoonpoetry.blogspot.com.
